A Sofa Table Makeover.
This painted black sofa table,
turned writing desk, was not always so happy.
There was a time it felt ignored and quite lonely.
In fact I turned my head away every time I entered the room.
"But 'orange' you glad to see me?"
NO!
"But 'orange' you glad to see me?"
NO!
I did feel a little sad. Really.
We had once been madly in love.
We had once been madly in love.
But things had changed in our relationship.
I had gone in a different direction.
I wanted to say,
"It's not you... it's me",
but that just wasn't true.
I had gone in a different direction.
I wanted to say,
"It's not you... it's me",
but that just wasn't true.
With some hard work this relationship
was going to be saved.
was going to be saved.
I would end up with the desk of my dreams.
Of course it wasn't easy.
Something worth saving never is...
As you can see I spray painted it.
I used a semi gloss black spray paint.
Lightly sanded it first, and didn't use a primer.
I rubbed it down with a fine steel wool because
it was too shiny and I wanted to distress it a little.
I guess it wasn't really that hard after all.

So... I was feeling the love again.
The chair also got a makeover.

This picture was taken last year in our Texas home.
I have more pictures, of that home,
to share in future posts.
It will be interesting to see how I transition my furnishings to this new home in Palm Desert, Ca.
Desert Great Room
So far it has not been easy.

It looks wonderful black! I love the vignette you've set up on it as well. I've got a table like that, too! Well, a couple actually. They will be getting painted, too. Like you, I'll be moving {downsizing} and I'm hoping that the furniture I'm planning on taking will work in a smaller place. My daughter will be taking the rest for her first house.
Love the new black look -- our daughter is getting ready to paint some bedroom furniture for her twins as they get ready for "big girl" beds. I'll be sure to show her this.
The table area looks great, it's amazing what a different color can do. Love your whole room. I've been surprised at how easily my furniture transitioned from a San Diego condo to a Pollock Pines mountain house, to a lake condo. Little changes here and there was all it took. Have fun with your re-decorating!
I think your sofa table in black is very sleek and charming looking the way it's staged. Nice job :)

Hi Bunny Jean,
Now that's a great table!
Thanks for stopping over at my blog and asking about the dog that looks like your pound puppy. I saw the neighbor dog that looks like the dog with the scarf on my blog. His owner says that her dog is parts of Lhasa Apso, Bearded Collie and some sort of terrier. Google "Bearded Collie" and you will see where that sweet face came from.

Wonderful transformation. I think the change in the chair is even more dramatic.
