Our Desert Home has a Casita.
It is a one bedroom guest house...
really just a detached bedroom and full bath.
There is a space between the main house and the casita
that makes a courtyard. The first arch is the courtyard,
the second arch is the alcove to the front door entry.
You can see that I have tried to cover the
furniture to protect it from the sun.
Sort of...

Not very attractive, is it?
Since the weather is cooler now,
we are starting on some outdoor projects.
The first is an outdoor curtain.
The first is an outdoor curtain.
I spray painted the pipe using the ever popular
Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint.
The curtain rings are a little bigger than I usually
get because of the diameter of the pipe.
I will also add tie back hooks.
Hopefully I will have the curtains up this week.
I am also designing a gate for the courtyard.
Below are some examples.

This is a house like ours (reversed) that has
a black iron gate. Not exactly what I want.
Too plain. Too open. Too black.
Too plain. Too open. Too black.
This is very attractive but way to ornate and
WAY TOO GOLD!
What I want is something that will keep
the dogs in and the uninvited out.
With a lock set and doorbell.
Something with BIRDS.
Yes, I love birds... just a few.
What do you think?
I am sharing this at these parties:

Wow, that's a good area to garden. Will you be featuring it later too?
How nice to have an outside space like this, I am so envious of your warm weather and sunny skies.
I look forward to seeing it completed as I know you do as well.
That's a great space to work with.
What a cute courtyard...I love your ideas!
XO,
Jane
You're going to have a fabulous outdoor space when your finished. The curtains are really going to soften it up and the gate will wow! How exciting! Can't wait to see your after pictures!
I love your home and courtyard. Can't wait to see what you do for the iron gate. The examples were all great. Blessings, Ginger
Love having a courtyard in the home. So nice. My pick of the gates is the black one. I am very partial to them. Beautiful place. genie
I like the black one, its a beautiful area you have. andi
I can't wait to see the end result.
I'm sure your garden gate design will be something uniquely you. Looking at your examples remind me of visits to New Orleans. The Garden District has so many beautiful homes and many have custom designed gates or fences. I am partial to more ornate designs. Waiting for your next update revealing your final decision. Debra
Keep up the fantastic piece of work, I read few articles on this web site and I believe that your blog is really interesting and has got lots of good information. pvc pipe connectors
