This cute little "9 drawer chest"
is not really that.
It is cute, but it's not a chest.
It started out as a small entry hall credenza.
It had a mirror too.
Very dated looking and just not what I wanted.
Notice that there is only one little brass knob on the door.
I had looked for years for a
not too wide, and not too deep
black chest for my small entryway.
I knew just what I wanted...
and I was taking my time.
This time I was not going to settle.
Then I saw this credenza.
It wasn't really what I wanted...
but it was just what I needed.
It was not the right color or style...
but in this case ladies...
"size did matter".
It was just the right size.
I had to fill a 36" x 14" space.
Sometimes smaller is better.
.
.
.
Now look how cute it turned out.
I am in love!
I just lightly sanded, and use the same black spray paint
that I used on the sofa table ~ turned writing desk
that I shared in this post.
The best part is the little knobs.
It now looks like there are
9 little drawers.
Some things are just what you want...
after you make them over!

LOVE the shape of your find! And your black updated is just what this little gem needed to sparkle again! Great job!
:D Lynda
Wow what an update. It does not even look like the same piece of furniture. Adding the knobs was pure genius on your part-it is what makes the piece.
Looks fabulous! You were right about that piece of furniture. It's the right size and you chose perfect paint.
What a beautiful little area - that black chest is perfect, along with the rest of the items on and over it. I, too, think the knobs are genius. Perfect! :)
Love it! The knobs are what really makes it fab.
The chest is just perfect for that space, Bunny Jean and you really did a lovely job with it!

Wow, that little chest came out great! It is amazing what a little paint can do, isn't it?
I love the quirky shape of the table and you can't go wrong with classic black.
Thanks so much for joining the party!
You have a lovely entry. We had the same dilemma. I wanted a cupboard but it had to be 12" deep and not too wide, and low enough for the trim. I had one made but it is not as cute as yours (great shape). I linked up too and hope you can stop by to see it.
Clever of you to add the knobs. It looks great! It's not always easy to find just the right piece for a certain spot. You did!
Oh, you should be in love with that adorable table. It is darling and perfect for the spot. Love it too. Thanks for sharing. Karie
The knobs are a nice touch! Thanks for sharing. We hope you will consider helping kids with cancer by linking into the Miracle Makeover party this coming week
at www.designgivesback.com. Together we can change things! We appreciate you.

Adding the knobs changed the whole look of the piece! Love it and your plate rack abobe is perfect.

Sherry
Thanks so much for following my blog! I love this little credenza - perfect shape for that small entry too. I don't know how many times my credenzas are actually dressers with mirrors, they work really well usually. :)
SUPER CUTE! I created one just like it a couple of weeks ago... http://howtonestforless.com/2011/05/13/painted-storage-chest-for-entryway/

Terry
How clever to put the extra knobs on. That was brilliant! Love this make-over!
Maybe I should call you doctor....because you really gave this piece a "facelift." It looks fantastic you're crafty and clever.
What a make-over! That was genious to add the 9 knobs, instead of the little pull the credenza originally had. With the new paint job and the new knobs, its own momma wouldn't know it! Fantastic job, Bunny!
