A Rainy Day Read...

Today I'm joining Chari over at
Happy to Design for her
Sunday Favorites.

I will give her link at the bottom.

~~~
I first wrote this back in the Fall when we
were having a spell of rainy weather.
Well... we will be having a few stormy days
again and it made me think of this post.
It is the beginning of our tornado season here
in Texas.  Something I don't look forward to.
You can go here to read about my
experience with tornadoes.
~~~

It's another rainy day here in North Texas.

A very good day to curl up and
read a good book or blog...
(or two... or three.......).

So, If you don't mind...

I thought I would show some brighter decorating this time.  Not that I don't LOVE the warm and cozy Autumn colors.

The following pictures were taken before my
 dining room fell into Fall!

All I need is a cup of tea and biscuits.

The dining table was moved so that I
 could show you the china hutch.

This is my Spring dish collection.

That green display stand is from
HomeGoods. Love that store!

This silk flower arrangement was a gift...

From my dear friends at Ethan Allen in
Northern California, near the Nappa Valley.

It was given to me at my farewell party
when we were moving to Texas.

Here are some of my Mary Engelbreit
pretties. Do any of you like ME?

The Garden Angel is by Jim Shore and was given to me by my daughter Angie.  Her wings fell off... so I guess she is a "fallen angel"!?

DD also gave me the Mary Engelbreit
(ME) grandmother cup,
before her daughter was born.

The cat represents my yellow cat Norton.

He was big and acted more like a dog
than a cat. He followed me everywhere.

I lost him to the Coyotes in California.

This is a favorite picture.

"When a child is born,
so is a grandmother"

I bought another ME picture in our little
town's gift shop in Rancho Murieta, Ca.
(Before we moved to Texas)

It is a private golf community and is built
on a game reserve... or is it a preserve?

It was full of deer, wild turkeys, bobcats,
rattlesnakes, AND coyotes!

The shop owner was an artists and
she painted the flowers on the matting
before she framed it.

~~~
Anyway... My tea is brewed so...
back to my afternoon
of relaxing and reading.
Now... where are my glasses?
~~~

Now don't forget to go visit Chari
over at Happy to Design.

Thank you Chari for hosting
this weekly event.

Hi Jean! Oh, I love seeing your home. Love those pretty red chairs and your hutch is beautiful. I love ME too! I'm so sad her magazine folded!
I'm trying to find my glasses too! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Sorry about your Coyote problem when you were in CA. I use to live there and one day I see this animal running around my block very early in the morning and figured out it was a real live coyote. Very scary and from that day I would never let my little dog out by himself. I had to laugh at your bathroom post very clever and the faucet is one I have been eyeing for my powder room for some time now. My husband is not handy so I tend to leave things as they are unless it is absolutely necessary to change them. It avoids a whole lot of arguments:)

It's Wednesday here and it is raining a a cold 58 degrees ;-). I now have Southern blood and I get cold easily!! I too am going to get some tea and read or perhaps watch a netflick and crochet---I think I have just enough time before the gang comes home (and I have chili bang bang in my crock.)

I just had to tell you that I have the same pic and saying only mine was cut out of a mag. years ago and it is only about 3 by 4 inches but my entire family loves that pic and that saying by Mary E. !! It is in this room that I am blogging in as I type ;-).

Love your dishes and hutch and the cheerful chairs---you are one crazy lady moving the table to get a pic!!! YIKERS!! I will leave this comment with my picture this time....I have 4 blogs (plus one my hubby does on his Dad) so I don't leave the comment with my pic usually because it takes you to the page that is about me and you don't know which blog to go to!! My house blog is the Spindle Cottage one .

Yes, ME is great! I think I may know the artist that painted on your picture! My mom had a neighbor that was an artist and I think she had a gift shop there. I cannot remember her name though...her husband is/was a pharmacist. I could be wrong though... Oh, her name was Jeanine..not sure of the spelling though!

YES!!! You are so right. I felt bad not remembering her name, but I am pretty sure it was Jeanine.

What a small world...

@cheapchichome. I really love your hutch. I think it's the plate rack that 'gets' me. I am a Mary Engelbreit fan, too, that's why I clicked over here. (OK and Jim Shore ;)).
