When Face Meets Floor... and a Give-a-Way

Me: Hello floor...

Floor: We have to stop meeting this way!

This is a little slide show showing the progress of my face so far.
Starting within a few minutes of my fall and up to last night.

There is no blood... but it is a bit gross.

The first few pictures show the initial swelling that occurred within minutes.
Then two pics of the ER visit, and the progression over the next two days.

My Big Black Eye

It may take a few seconds to load. Just start it ,
read down, and then come back to view.

Please forgive me for not wearing any make up or having my hair done.
After all... I had been sleeping and not ready for company.
I do plan on getting prettied up today :/

This is the THIRD time I have
hit the floor in the last 16 months.

I am not feeling dizzy and have no major health concerns.
Never was accident prone before...
So what gives?!?

The first time I fell was while 'running' across the bedroom.
It was in the rental house we lived in while we were waiting for our desert house to be built.

I clipped the bed's foot board
and did a TOTAL face plant...

No outstretched arms to soften the blow.
I woke up looking at the underside of the dresser...
thinking someone needs to vacuum the carpet!

The next time I FLEW through the air,
but not with the greatest of ease.

That time I was 'running' through the garage,
trying to get out before the door came down.
Hit my knee on the bike tire and...

Flew with outstretched arms...
just like Superman.

Luckily that time my hands hit first giving me
about one inch between the cement floor and my chin.
Surprisingly, it didn't even knock the wind out of me.

I think 'running' may just be the keyword here... and a lot of stupidity.

So now I knew to watch out for unfamiliar foot boards
and to never, ever try to run under a garage door.

No more running in general!

But I hadn't learned about the rule for
answering the phone in the middle of the night.

TURN ON THE LIGHTS!

This time is was the ottoman,
the ottoman on wheels...

When you trip over an ottoman that has wheels,
the ottoman most likely will move...
and you may smack the HARD tile floor!

SMACK.... that is the actual sound I heard,
as a bright little light (the only light)
lit up inside my head.

So now I have learned not to run,
and to never answer a phone in the middle of the night.
It usually is just bad news... one way or the other.

Oh... the phone call?
It was The Mr. calling to see if he had closed the garage door.
Just double checking... and yes, it was closed.

Man that is amazing---I can't believe you have fallen so many times--good thing you don't go to the doc everytime it happens or he/she would wonder!! Guess you need to slow way down!!!

You're right nannykim... my husband even thought they were very casual about it in the ER the other night. They never even removed my long sleeved sweater to look at my arms... and when I didn't want a chest xray they didn't question it. (I knew my ribs were okay) I did however have the CT scan... but I just think they should have at least wanted to look at my body... just in case.

Oh, you poor thing! That's one big ole boo boo and looks so painful! I'm so sorry this happened. Now you had better stop all that running. :)
I hope it's not painful. You take care of yourself.
Be a sweetie,

Bunny....I'll be honest. I'm concerned. Three times in 16 months is not a good thing. Have you been to a Dr? I know these are all accidents but still...please see one. Also please take care of yourself. Please...be careful. Enough said...I'll now get off my 'mother soap box.' At least your smiling through all of this. Thats a good thing.

Love you my friend,

Nann

If you had been a 10 year old boy, all your friends would has said "that's cool"! I happy you didn't hit your eye itself, and have had a speedy recovering. People keep saying-live in the moment, and when I do I don't seem to be running into things so often!
Now that is it, no more falls kiddo!

All I can say is ouch! Oh my gosh, I'm surprised you didn't break anything.
Over the last couple years I have been caring for my mom. She has had several falls and broken some bones. After seeing what she has had to go through, I have trained myself to SLOW down. I used to hurry all the time, even when there was no real reason. I now hold on to hand rails, and do NOT walk in the dark (except of course when I am half asleep making a trip to the lulu at night) so that I don't fall! I'm hoping I don't have to go through what she has. Now you be careful young lady!!! I don't want to see any more posts about you falling or having an injury! I'll be keeping my eye on you . . . . so take care!!!

I am truly clumsy. And I tend to fall. So far, haven't hit my face. But I did run straight into the door facing to the bathroom a few weeks ago. Bruise is finally going away. Be careful!

My goodness! I'm glad you're alright. I used to never fall either, but have fallen several times in the last few years. Every time it was when I was in a hurry. Hmmm....do I see a trend here????

You are definitely in the running for Wonder Woman. I have to say, if that's you with no makeup then you are definitely putting me to shame. You look sooooo good. Even with that really bad eye! :)
